Education & Personal Background
Terricabras is a professor of Philosophy in the University of Girona, although at the moment he isn’t practicing because he is a MEP for Esquerra Republicana. He won the European elections of 2015 in Catalonia in tandem with Ernest Maragall.
- Graduate in Arts and Humanities from the University of Barcelona.
- PhD in Philosophy and Education Sciences from the University of Barcelona and the University of Münster (Germany).
- He has done research stays in the University of Münster, in the St. John’s College of Cambridge, in England, and in the University of California, in Berkeley (USA).
- He is a professor of Philosophy in the University of Girona. His specialty is the contemporary philosophy, and specially the work of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein.
Civic background
- In 1995 he joined the Secció de Filosofia i Ciències Socials (Philosophy and Social Sciences Section) of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Institute of Catalan Studies).
- He introduced the project Philosophy 3/18 (Philosophy for children) in the Catalan Countries.
- He is a member of the Societat Catalana de Filosofia (Catalan Society of Philosophy).
- He is the president of the Comitè de Seguiment de la Declaració Universal de Drets Lingüístics (Monitoring Committee of the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights) and a member of the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (Catalan National Assembly, ANC).
Institutional career
- Deputy and spokesman of Esquerra Republicana in the European Parliament since 2014.
