An Esquerra representation headed by Leader Oriol Junqueras, with Secretary General Elisenda Alamany and Deputy Leader and MEP Diana Riba attends the rally in support of the Flotilla
An Esquerra Republicana representation took part at the weekend in the rally in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla set to leave the Port of Barcelona bound for Gaza. In addition, Barcelona City Councillor and Secretary for Metropolitan Strategy on Esquerra’s National Executive, Jordi Coronas, forms part of the crew captaining of one of the ships. Esquerra thus shows its commitment to the defence of Human Rights and to ending the genocide of the Palestinian people.
“We are embarking on this journey to say loud and clear that we must open humanitarian corridors and to demand that the State of Israel ends the genocide in Gaza. We cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of the Palestinian people, and that is why we must promote courageous initiatives and demand that Europe act,” stated Mr Coronas.
Deputy Leader and MEP Diana Riba took part in the press conference held on Sunday morning, which was also attended in a show of support for the initiative by the party Leader Oriol Junqueras, Secretary General Elisenda Alamany, the Secretary for International Relations Adrià Guevara, and Catalan Parliament Deputy Spokesperson Ana Balsera.
Esquerra Republicana supports the initiative and all the activists and institutional representatives who participate in the Flotilla, with the aim of bringing humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, while at the same time highlighting the demand by the international community that the violence and the human rights violations that Israel inflicts upon the Palestinian people is put to an end. Catalonia has never been impassive before the violation of rights.
