Esquerra Republicana was present in the events in Tindouf on Wednesday, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). The delegation was headed by Deputy Secretary General Norma Pujol and the member of the Spanish Congress in Madrid, Etna Estrems.

Esquerra was the only Catalan party present at the event, reaffirming its historical commitment to the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination.

In her address, Norma Pujol underlined “the bonds that unite the Catalan and Sahrawi peoples as nations that aspire to full sovereignty,” and stressed that “Esquerra Republicana will continue to be a firm ally of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi people, as it has always been.” Likewise, she highlighted the importance of the solidarity built over the years between both peoples.

By attending the anniversary celebrations of the SADR, Esquerra Republicana reiterates its commitment to defending the right to self-determination and freedom of all peoples. It also reaffirms our will to continue at the side of the Sahrawi people until they achieve full sovereignty.
