Catalonia lawmakers Raquel Sans and Mònica Palacín represent Esquerra at the Foro de São Paulo

Esquerra Republicana took part at the weekend in the Foro de São Paulo, an international meeting of left-wing political organizations that takes place every year in a Latin American country. The delegation was made up of Esquerra’s Deputy Secretary General for feminism and LGBTI rights Raquel Sans, and fellow lawmaker Mònica Palacín.

From Thursday to Sunday, Ms Sans and Ms Palacín participated in debates, seminars and meetings on different issues in Brazilian capital Brasilia. From discussions analysing the political situation in Latin America to meetings with popular movements, among the different seminars, there was also a meeting of all the women taking part.

The Foro de São Paulo currently embraces most Latin American progressive parties, along with over 120 organizations from around the world, among which are organisations from the Spanish state, such as Basque Bildu and Galician BNG. Raquel Sans also participated in the March founding session of the Feminist International, a gathering of left-wing women from all over the world.
