The Secretary-General of the party, Marta Rovira, has explained that “we have to fight against the fake news, against the farce, because this is also a way to democratize our political space”
Esquerra Republicana launches an international tour of its deputies to denounce the 1-O trial. This has been agreed in the meeting the group of Esquerra Republicana in the Parliament had today at Geneva with its Secretary-General, Marta Rovira, who is in exile. “It is necessary to set an important strategy, which is the international strategy. We are evaluating and preparing how to recover all the contacts we had with the rest of the deputies of national parliaments of other states”, explained Rovira. Therefore, the republican deputies will be “ambassadors” who will explain all around the political repression that Catalonia endures and the will to achieve a political end to the conflict with Spain. Rovira has also announced that they will invite international observers to Madrid so that they can follow the trial in the Supreme Court.
Esquerra Republicana’s Secretary-General has emphasized that this strategy “makes a lot of sense, because where Spain uses more resources in its political strategy of the trial is, precisely, on the international level”. “We have to fight against fake news, against lies, against the farce”, said Rovira, “because this is also a way to democratize our political space”.
With this tour, the republicans also want to embrace and defend their cause, the self-determination right of Catalonia one: “it is a cause whereby we have obtained a democratic support through the polls, and we have always tried to debate about it with all the democratic guarantees in Parliament”, recalled, finally, Marta Rovira.
