Leading Swiss public TV news show to screen a report on Esquerra leader Marta Rovira's exile

'Temps Présent' is to broadcast the "Exiled in Switzerland, persecuted and spied on" report on Thursday, 23 November

"In March 2018, Marta Rovira had to flee her country and take refuge in Geneva to escape 30 years in prison. Her crime? Having organized a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. An intimate portrait of a politician pursued by the Spanish intelligence services and a victim of espionage in Swiss territory."

So goes the teaser for the Temps Présent show on Radio Télévision Suïsse, the Swiss French-language public broadcaster, which will dedicate one of its reports to Esquerra Secretary General Marta Rovira’s exile in Geneva, on Thursday, 23 November.

The documentary covers her persecution by the Spanish justice system for having organized the 1 October 2017 referendum, espionage on her with Pegasus spyware, her day-to-day life in Geneva where she combines her work as Secretary General with international projects on democracy, human rights and conflict resolution, and other aspects of Marta Rovira's exile, including the impact on her personal life.

Since April 1969, Temps Présent has been Radio Télévision Suisse‘s leading current affairs programme. The report will be broadcast on Thursday at 8.10pm on RTS1, and will later be available on the Radio Télévision Suisse website and via the programme's YouTube channel.
