Oriol Junqueras participates in Sinn Féin's national conference in Athlone, Ireland

Oriol Junqueras, president of Esquerra Republicana, participated last Saturday November 11 in the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis, the national party conference of the held in Athlone, Ireland. In his speech, Junqueras highlighted the ideological bonds between the two republican parties: "we share a hope for the future of our countries to be decided democratically and the will to generate wealth for our countries and for the world: a more equal society with greater opportunities for everyone",he said before the Sinn Féin members.

In addition, the leader of Esquerra Republicana spoke of the Good Friday Agreement as an example for the resolution of a political conflict by democratic means: "it demonstrates through the holding of a referendum that the citizens of Ireland can determine their own future", declaring its support for a reunified Ireland in the event of a clear majority in the North. Finally, the Republican leader also spoke of the examples of Quebec and Montenegro, adding that this is also what the citizens of Catalonia want for their country.

Oriol Junqueras was part of an international delegation that also included other leaders such as Arnaldo Otegi, president of the Basque EH Bildu. Mary Lou McDonald, President of Sinn Féin, and Michelle O'Neill, First Minister-designate of Northern Ireland, were among the Sinn Féin leaders who also spoke during the event.
