Raquel Sans, the only Catalan representative at the foundation of the Feminist International in Mexico

Esquerra Republicana’s Deputy Secretary General for Feminisms and LGBTI, Raquel Sans, will be part of this world assembly of feminist and progressive leaders

Esquerra Republicana’s Deputy Secretary General for Feminisms and LGBTI, Raquel Sans, will participate in the foundation of the Feminist International, to be held from March 30 to April 1 in Mexico City. Ms Sans will be the only Catalan member of this new international feminist organization, made up of feminist and progressive leaders from all over the world, and will attend as a representative of the party’s Feminist Assembly.

Of over 50 participants from almost 30 countries and nations from several continents are women such as Chile’s Minister for Women and Gender Equality Antonia Orellana, the mayor of Santiago de Chile Irací Hassler, Argentina’s former Minister for Women, Gender and Diversity Eli Gómez Alcorta, the President of Honduras Xiomara Castro, and Venezuela’s Minister for People’s Power for Women and Gender Equality Diva Guzmán, in addition to parliamentarians, activists and other political leaders.

The Feminist International means to be a cross-border setting for collective work and feminist coordination. This network means to fight patriarchy on a global scale with progressive, intersectional, anti-racist and environmental feminist values, and with a profound democratic and peace-building sense.

The meeting to found the Feminist International will last three days and will include an opening ceremony at which the manifesto will be presented, working round-tables, workshops and training sessions.
