The Government promotes Catalonia at the World Travel Market in London

Business and Labour Minister Roger Torrent presents Catalonia in London as a key driver: “we are competitive and well positioned to attract investment in post-Covid and post-Brexit Europe”

Catalonia is a competitive, attractive territory in terms of investment, said Mr Torrent at the World Travel Market, one of the most important travel fairs in the world which is taking place in London. “We are here to explain the plurality and diversity of Catalonia as a tourist industry brand, an internationally consolidated hallmark,” said the Minister, who inaugurated Catalonia’s stand at the fair.

In addition to the inaugural event at the fair, the Business and Labour chief took advantage of the trip to the UK capital to visit and meet several businesses and consultants specializing in international investments such as CBRE, Ananas Anam, Jet2, Pacific Asia Travel Association and Grandstand Motor Sports among others, with the aim of re-industrializing Catalonia.

In this regard, the Minister stated that “many companies are looking at ways to gain presence in continental Europe, within the European Union. Catalonia is competitive, we are well positioned and we must be able to offer our country and all the potential it has to attract investment that would position us still better to face the post-Covid and post-Brexit era in Europe, where Catalonia must be a driving force with a key role to play,” he added.

Indeed, Mr Torrent today announced a new Industry 4.0 investment project in Catalonia. The project is led by Unmanned Life (UM Autonomous Systems) which has chosen Barcelona to deploy its central technology hub. The company develops advanced robotics technology that enables management of large fleets of robots and drones. The company will move its current hub location from Brussels, with 15 employees, to Barcelona, while planning to create more than 20 new jobs in the new year.
