Esquerra Republicana’s leader will join the political and academic forum, with other progressive leaders such as Lula da Silva, Pepe Mujica, Evo Morales and Rafael Correa

Esquerra Republicana leader Oriol Junqueras has been formally invited to join the Grupo de Puebla, a political and academic forum made up of left-wing political representatives, both from Latin America and Southern Europe, founded in Mexico City on 14 July 2019.

Among its most prominent figures are Brazilians Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff; Uruguayans Pepe Mujica and Yamandúi Orsi, Bolivia’s Evo Morales; Ecuador’s Rafael Correa and Spain’s José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Irene Montero.

According to its founding principles, the main objective of this club is to articulate comprehensive progressive ideas and policies. Mr Junqueras met with members of the group in Montevideo at the end of February, on the occasion of the inauguration of Frente Amplio leader Yamandú Orsi as president of Uruguay.
